TENETS OF FAITH

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers, nurtured by the unselfish love for each other. In the following tenets of faith we seek agreement, but grant liberty in matters of opinion and conscience.

GOD:  We believe that there is one God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST:  We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, salvation through His bloodshed on the cross and through His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal and imminent return in power and glory to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whom we are sealed for the Day of Redemption and by whose indwelling Presence we are empowered, anointed and gifted to live a godly life through obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We also believe in the present supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit, who bestows the spiritual gifts, for the edification of believers on the earth since the day of Pentecost and continuing until our Lord’s return.

THE BIBLE: We believe the entire Bible to be inspired, inerrant in the original text, the authoritative word of God, the all-sufficient standard of our faith and practice. It is the final authority for all we believe and how we are to live.

HUMAN BEINGS: People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience towards God called “sin.” This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life. We believe all must turn from their sins.

SALVATION: Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Christ alone. It is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. Eternal life begins the moment one confesses with their mouth, believes in their heart and receives Jesus Christ into his/her life by faith. We believe in the assurance of salvation for the believer. Sharing this good news with others is the responsibility of each Christian and the church.

BAPTISM AND COMMUNION: We believe that believers are to be baptized by immersion as an act of obedience and identification with the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that water baptism and communion are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation.

MARRIAGE:  We believe in God as the Creator; we believe that God created man and that He created them male and female. As such He created them different so as to complement and complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family; the basic structure of human society.

THE RETURN OF CHRIST: We believe in and eagerly await the personal and imminent “Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ at the end of the age to consummate His Kingdom.” We believe in a great end-time harvest of souls and the emergence of a victorious Church of unprecedented unity, purity and power in the Holy Spirit. This “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

ETERNITY: We believe that all will be judged for their decisions and actions. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. When the Christian dies he/she will forever dwell in blissful fellowship with God. We also believe that when the unbeliever dies he/she will experience punishment in the lake of fire, conscious and tormented by eternal separation from God. To be with God is eternal life (Heaven). To be separated from Him is eternal death (Hell). Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
